Junior Clinics and Games
A fun atmosphere with skill learning in a positive environment

Ages 7-13 years

Now at the following two venues

5pm each Monday during school terms at RMIT Bundoora,

4.30pm each Thursday at Northcote High School

Participants will learn:
The rules of netball, throwing and catching skills, goal shooting technique, footwork, attacking and defending skills.

Competition Rules

Team Captains,
These rules are to be used in conjunction with AANA rulebook. We ask that you make these available to all members of your team, and we hope you have an enjoyable season of Netball. If any player in your team suffers from a medical condition or carries life saving medication, please inform the umpire or supervisor prior to taking the court.

Game fees must be handed in prior to the start of game

Players- Must be at least 13 years of age.
All team members/players must be covered by personal insurance offered by TRAD. This fee is compulsory & must be paid before you can play. If you have played two (2) games within current year and no insurance has been paid you are NOT permitted to take the court until your insurance is paid.
A registered player with a team may not fill in for any other team in their section. Teams may substitute from a lower grade only. If this player plays 3 games up they CANNOT go back to the lower section.
Players must play THREE games with a team to qualify to play in the Finals.

Mixed Netball
Only three males permitted on the court at the one time. Minimum of 1 male to constitute a mixed game. Only ONE male in each goal circle. ALL players in the Mixed section must attempt to catch the ball in a toss up.

Uniform
Ladies - consist of matching colour skirts or appropriate shorts (Bicycle pants, ¾ pants or track pants can be worn under skirts or shorts) Singlets may be worn but shoestring straps are not permitted. Mixed -consist of matching skirts or shorts for ladies and appropriate shorts for men. Appropriate shorts should be around knee length with no large pockets or zips (cycling shorts are not suitable).
A shade variation is allowed e.g. Navy and Royal Blue or Navy and Black. Incorrect uniform bears no penalty for first 3 weeks of a new season. Any team may approach umpires about an opposing team’s uniform, but this must be done before half time. The umpire’s decision will be final. If you are in doubt, please feel free to contact the office. All players must wear runners. Hair slides, hair beads and hats are not permitted. Players with plaster injuries are not permitted to play. Games will not be stopped to tie laces.

Games will consist of 4 X 9 min. quarters with a 2 min. break at half time Teams taking the court late (after the Other team is on court a ready to begin) will be penalised a goal a minute up to end of first quarter, at which point the offending team will forfeit. Byes 4 points awarded to team with rostered bye.

Re Grading: -The competition reserves the right to re-grade teams or give penalties at any time.

Forfeits: - Please make every attempt to avoid forfeits; these are a disruption to other teams and the competition. Teams that forfeit must pay a fee of $110, No Exceptions. A 10-goal penalty and 4 points to the non-offending team. In the unavoidable event where you will have to forfeit please contact the office as early as possible so that the other team can be notified. In the event of a forfeit, the non-offending team may register players.

Scoring; It is the responsibility of each team to supply a scorer.

Finals will be 4 x 9 min. quarters, 2 min. break at half time. If the game ends in a drawn, then there shall be a further 5 minutes played at each end. The game will be timed with a hand held timer and if nearing the end of extra time and the result is still a draw, the time keeper is required to hold the time at 5 seconds until the next goal is scored.(No new players, that is those who have not taken part in the original game time, may take the court at the commencement of the extra time.)

Discipline:
Captains are responsible for conduct of team players and their spectators. The competition has the right to suspend players or teams. It is the responsibility of captains to ensure that all team members are aware of the rules. Ignorance is no excuse. In serious circumstances a tribunal may be asked to adjudicate.

Code of Conduct:- A player code of conduct has been introduced, this is available on our web-page www.netballcomp.com Team Captains must make this available to all players.

Umpires are expected to maintain discipline at all times and have the right to report offensive language or behaviour. The “F” word or other similar vulgarities are not acceptable. The offending player may be warned or sent from the court for a minimum of 2 goals. Offending spectators will be asked to leave the stadium.

Injuries. All Injuries MUST be recorded on your scoresheet prior to signing and handing in. First aid is the responsibilty of each team, Ice is available at the Stadium reception.

Blood Rule; No player is allowed to continue playing if bleeding. The bleeding player cannot take the court until all visible blood is cleaned/covered. Bloodstained clothing to be removed or cleaned. Player may return to position being played after notifying the umpire.

RULES 2011

Team Captains,
These rules are to be used in conjunction with AANA rulebook. We ask that you make these available to all members of your team, and we hope you have an enjoyable season of Netball. If any player in your team suffers from a medical condition or carries life saving medication, please inform the umpire or supervisor prior to taking the court.

Season: - Teams that join are expected to complete the season. It is the Captains responsibility to ensure that the team completes the current season. If a team withdraws during a season there is an exit fee of $100 plus any forfeits and outstanding monies. All teams entered in the season are expected to play finals. (If your team is not able to play finals Captains must notify the office 5 weeks prior to season finish, otherwise normal forfeit fees will apply)

Games: -For up coming season there will be 9-minute quarters, with 2 minutes at half time. A match that ends after half time for any unforeseen reason will constitute a game. Only umpires or a supervisor can terminate games. Teams that take the court after the normal start time will be penalized at a minute a goal up to the end of the first quarter, at which time the game will be forfeited (for this to occur the other team must be on court ready to start). If a scratch match is played both teams will pay the game and umpire fees.

Players: -Minimum number of players to take the court is 5. Players must be a minimum of 14 years old. Player’s nails are to be short or taped (fabric), gloves are permitted, but sweatbands must be worn.
Mixed- Teams must have at least one male and a maximum of three; the males can play in any combination of positions.
No player can play with more than one team in the same grade. (This now also includes combined grades). Teams may use one player from a higher section, and as many as they wish from a lower section. Players wishing to play for a much lower grade than their regular game must first consult with the office. The exception is a combined grade where 1 player can play for another team outside their grade.

Equipment: -Each team is to supply a ball, bibs and medical kit. An emergency ball and bibs is available from the umpire or supervisor. Instant ice packs are available for use by your team, these will be charged at $3.00 on to the team pay in card.

Fees: -Umpires and game fees are to be paid directly to the umpire before the game – unless there is a Supervisor at the court.
If through unforeseen circumstances and an umpire has to umpire a game alone, both teams will still pay the umpire.

Jewellery: - All jewellery must be removed (piercings may be taped), a flat wedding band is permitted.

Toss up: - Applies to mixed teams only
All players must attempt to take possession of the ball. Hitting or batting will result in free pass to opposing team.

Scoring: - Score sheets will be provided and must be filled out by both teams before the game with names of players who will take the court. Teams should try to supply a scorer who should sit with the other teams scorer, if they have one.

Transfers: -If a player wishes to transfer from one team to another in the same grade, the team captain must give written permission. Players may transfer once only per season.

Finals: - It is the responsibility of the captain (not every player) to ring the office to confirm the teams place in the finals.
Players- To be eligible for finals players must be registered with their team.
Players who play in more than one team must give the office 6 weeks notice if they believe both teams will be playing in the finals.
Official scorers are supplied in finals for at a fee to each team.
There is no late penalty for finals, 9 minutes is given, and then the game forfeited.
Games can be held up 5 minutes to allow for late players
An injury time of 2 minutes applies. No uniform penalties apply.
Drawn game results in 5 minutes each end. If still a draw at 10 minutes, then scorer will hold time until a goal is scored.

CODE OF CONDUCT - PLAYERS

Play by the rules, (make an effort to learn the rules)

Never argue or show disrespect to an Umpire. If you disagree, have your
captain, coach or manager calmly approach the Umpires or supervisor during a
break or after the Game.

Control your temper.
Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, will not be tolerated.

Be a good sport. Treat all officials and participants in your sport, as you like to be treated.
Without them there would be no competition.

Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their disability, gender,
